Watching a video of high-speed chase, I noticed that it was occurring in a neighborhood in which I spent a lot of time. One thing that made me smile whilst driving through that area was a nice silver RX-8 that I would see parked in front of a particular house on my route. Well, this idiot in the bro-truck lost control and smashed into it, stuffing it into the garage. Damn.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Probably the only off-roading this truck has ever seen...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

He’s damned lucky he didn’t hit the gas meter.

Kinja'd!!!

Somewhat surprisingly, they didn’t shoot him, just cuffed him and dragged him onto the lawn.

Kinja'd!!!

RIP RX-8.

:( I worry enough leaving my car parked on the road (don't laugh, I don't have enough clearance to get into the driveway and I haven't had time to change that). Im aware of the risk though...I can't imagine how I'd feel if it was safely in the driveway and still got smashed! What a headache for that owner.

So we’re blaming the truck and not the dipshit who stole it from the guy who was showing the police where the people who robbed the bank crashed their Impala? Wut. They could have done the same thing in a Hyundai Accent...

I live in the city and have neither a driveway or carport - I have no choice but to park on the street, and that makes me worried. I tend to park right in front of my house for convenience, but I should park around the corner for safety reasons as too many people use my street as a throughway.

There was a time a couple of years ago that I thought that there was an early-morning accident in front of my house involving an SLK, but I dismissed it as being just a dream (or nightmare). I went about my day as normal and didn’t think about it again until I looked at the pictures on my phone days or weeks later, which included shots of the fire department on scene and one of Mercedes parts in the gutter right in front of my car. It seems that I had taken some Ambien the night before, and was operating for hours in that dangerous hazy mode that this drug can bring on. Yikes!

What can I say - I just finished watching that video of the idiot in Fontana CA crashing into the Honda dealer after tapping the Mustang when I found this video and wasn’t aware of the full story behind this chase. Yeah, the driver was definitely at fault, there’s no arguing that, but I wonder if he would have stood a better chance of controlling the truck if it was at a stock ride height and had on-road tires. Lift kits and mudders are fine for occasional use vehicles, but I question their value on daily drivers.

Thanks. It’s amazing what can be done with YouTube, Google Street View, and an absolutely simple way to grab screenshots (command shift F4). A little background in film and video editing doesn’t hurt.

Totally fine. I do it every day. Nothing is better than making pot holes your bitch. The only problems I’ve had with it’s handling are totally just 20 year old SUV problems.

It was definitely the truck that stopped the dipshit that decided to drive his grandfather’s car through a park full of kids a while ago, not the trucks owner.

“... for safety reasons as too many people use my street as a throughway.”

This is exactly why I like to park my old truck at the curb on weekends. The road is roughly three lanes wide, so people slow down so they can safely pass the parked truck instead of blasting down the road at twice the speed limit.

Damn chevy drivers. Even worse when bro-dozered. Apparently started off in an impala then went for the Silverado.

Poor RX-8 (and the owner’s other cars).

SnagIt has a bunch of neat features and settings, like shortcuts to throw captures into the editor for highlighting etc or just go straight to the clipboard (I used Ctrl-Shift-C as a parallel to Ctrl-C). But Windows’ snipping tool is a nice quick alternative.

I could have put it in, but it was over 8 minutes long. Since I was trying to focus on the crash into the RX-8 I thought that it would be better expressed through select screen captures rather than the entire video.

I might have used it in the past, but since I spend most of my time on the Mac I just used the built-in tools. - quick, simple, familiar.

This has to be the best use of a lifted truck that I have ever seen. That’s some incredible faith in the strength of his vehicle.

Cool! I’m glad people stepped up to help this guy.

I don’t generally care for vigilante actions on the road, but it sounds like this guy took a calculated risk that paid off. I’m sure the cops weren’t too happy with his actions, however.

I wonder if one can get sued for intentionally causing an accident, even if the other vehicle is doing something illegal.

I’m sure the Accent would have made it far enough to crash into the RX-8 after jumping all those curbs.

There was talk some time back about blocking access from a major road near me, and my first thought was how inconvenient it would be to get home from said road. As it stands now I have to take all sorts of little side zigs to get home thanks to the diagonal nature of this road, but after thinking about it for some time I think I might be OK with it. I’m getting tired of the semi trucks driving through, and the dorks with their booming stereos. Perhaps minimizing access will finally quiet things down a tad.

Finding the balance is always difficult. The U.S. went through a phase where everything was laid out in a grid and it really does wonders for traffic since every street is a through street. Unfortunately, it also makes every street less desirable since any street can have some jackass coming through at unreasonable speeds. Thus the birth of the cul-de-sac.

My great-grandparents lived in a small town that had an interesting solution. There were no ditches and no storm sewers. Every road had deep swales along the curb to handle drainage. The end result was built-in speed humps at every intersection. Driving quickly turned into an imitation of the Dukes of Hazzard at every corner.

Kinja'd!!!

On the flip side, every road was a through street, so the only places where traffic was an issue was near the high school and along the main highway through town (running east to west along the bottom of this image).
